Back Credit Policy for Languages

Students who place into and satisfactorily complete higher-level language courses in the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies may be eligible to earn units of Back Credit for preceding courses. Credit is typically awarded for completing the following courses with a grade of B- or better. Please note: Native speakers are not eligible for back credit; evidence of secondary or post-secondary study of the language is required.

Arabic

Back Credit for Courses

  • L49 207D = 3 units for 108D
  • L49 307D = 3 units for 108D and 3 units for 208D

Hebrew

Back Credit for Courses

  • L74 2011 or 2012 = 3 units for 1012
  • L74 320D or 322 = 3 units for 1012 and 3 units for 2012
  • L74 384 or 385 = 3 units for 1012 and 3 for 2012
  • L74 4011 or 402 = 3 units for 2012 and 3 units for 322D

Hindi
