JEWISH, ISLAMIC AND MIDDLE EAST STUDIES 4023

This advanced course explores the complex history of Jewish-Christian relations from the Gospels to the present, examining pivotal texts, images, and works of art that have shaped inter-religious dynamics. Students will analyze theological, cultural, and political interactions, focusing on moments of conflict, coexistence, and mutual influence. Through close reading, visual analysis, and discussion, the course will highlight how art and literature reflect and challenge evolving perceptions. This seminar will foster a nuanced understanding of Christan-Jewish interactions through history as well as their role in shaping modern societies.
