Emily Fox receives the Zawada Award in Jewish Studies

The award recognizes undergraduate achievement in Jewish studies.

Emily Fox has been awarded the Aleene Schneider Zawada Award in Jewish Studies from the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies. This award acknowledges exceptional academic achievement in the field of Jewish studies. Fox majored in Jewish studies and graduated in fall 2020 with distinction in JIMES.

“Emily Fox is a marvelous student and wonderful person,” said Pamela Barmash, associate professor of Hebrew Bible and biblical Hebrew. “Her academic skill and depth of sensitivity to the lives of others enabled her to write a thesis in which the success and struggles of Jews during the period of the American Revolution come alive.”
